Huge regions have  ignited in flames, and as these widespread fires escalate an ominous, dark cloud of smoke has concealed the large city of Sao Paulo. You may be wondering why we should be so concerned about the Amazon’s burning? Take a moment and think about the changes in weather and temperature that we have seen recently. These conflicts occur for many reasons. Whether it is because of natural resources, trade interdiction, or strategic importance, these issues dominate the news today and destroy international relations and trade like a plague. There are many territorial disputes in modern times. The importance and cause of each varies. Perhaps the most controversial territory dispute of recent times is that of the Crimean Peninsula. A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster, this is the definition of a refugee. The crisis happens when large groups of these refugees are forced to move because of a variety of reasons. The most relatable example of this for many Americans are refugees seeking shelter from gang violence in Central America and Mexico. Who is helping these people? Migration Patterns for people in Central America. The IRC, International Rescue Committee, is a program that prides themselves in helping refugees and informing people around the world about the refugee crisis. The IRC’s President said that refugees are "a wake-up call to the human cost of war, economic misery, and climate stress.” This quote really depicts what the refugees go through and what situations they are trying to flee from.
